UplinkFast feature is used to speed up convergence time when the direct failure of the local Root Port occurs
Enabled Globally
To ensure that the switch with UplinkFast configured does not become a transit switch, its bridge priority will be automatically increased to 49152 and its ports cost increased with 3000
Alternate uplink immediately becomes the root port by looking into the already received BPDU and stored.
- Switch spoofs the traffic from learned hosts and sends bogus multicast frames with the known MAC as source to avoid unnecessary unicast.
SW3(config)#spanning-tree uplinkfast
Shutting down the root port, blocking port immediately to forwarding
